Dr.
Michael Cortese has over 25 years of counseling and
consulting experience with individuals and groups across a wide range of
industries
and professional disciplines. For over a decade he was a senior consultant
with an international outplacement and human resources consulting firm. During
his career he has designed, developed and implemented training and downsizing
projects and provided transition counseling and coaching for all levels of
employees in many Fortune 500 companies. Possessing considerable insight
into both the dynamics of the individual and their relationship to career
related matters, Mike has particular expertise in developing workable, common-sense
solutions for key executives experiencing career or professional difficulties
as a result of personal factors.
Prior to developing his consulting practice, Mike held leadership positions in the consulting and service delivery areas. Over the years, he has provided consulting and coaching services at all levels, from supervisory to “C” level within a variety of industries including: manufacturing, health care, insurance, banking/finance, transportation, retail, service and non-profit. His areas of concentration have included career management, assessment, coaching and organizational culture analysis. Mike’s ability to uncover and identify the core problems faced by his client organizations has proved to be a unique and particularly valuable skill. His understanding of the relationship and interaction between assessment, coaching and organizational culture have enabled him to quickly separate symptom from problem. This helps his clients avoid investing in comfort rather than cure. He completed his under-graduate studies at the University of Michigan and earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Detroit. He possesses extensive training and experience in human information processing, group and individual dynamics, as well as effecting behavioral and attitude changes with individuals in all types of work settings. In addition, he is highly skilled in providing useful and insightful assessments of intellect, personality, problem-solving approach, workplace values and management style. |
