Jerry Bricker Bricker is principal of Bricker Associates, an independent Ann Arbor based business-consulting practice. He specializes in leadership development coaching, and works with leaders who either want to improve how they function, or to close specific performance gaps. Jerry provides practical, results-based one-on-one coaching, “on the client’s playing field.” He works locally and nationally, with companies that recognize the links between effective individual contributions, the need to build organizational bench strength, and the organization’s bottom-line.

Typical coaching programs involve:

  • Helping leaders to navigate critical growth or transition points in their organization’s life-cycle
  • Working with successful leaders who want to prepare for increased responsibilities
  • Counseling with technical employees who demonstrate troublesome interpersonal or leadership skills.
  • Upgrading stalled executives who no longer perform at expected levels.
  • Quick start integration to establish solid job success into new team or responsibilities.

Coaching programs usually include several diagnostic assessments including a job skills analysis, and a 360º feedback of observations by managers, co-workers, and others. These assessments are analyzed with the client to examine work patterns, behavioral characteristics, performance strengths, and capability gaps. The data is used to develop a tailored coaching action plan to meet the client’s objectives. Successful programs include regular meetings during implementation in order to provide the client with feedback, guidance and celebration of results.

Good leadership alone cannot guarantee the success of any business. Jerry also provides business consulting assistance in the area of organizational culture surveys and analysis. With the use of validated, and easy-to-use diagnostic instruments, to assess current management practices, his client companies can benchmark their organization’s culture against a global database of over 15,000 high and low performing companies. Findings are used to develop practical action plans to improve current practices and optimize performance. Linking culture and leadership to bottom line business performance achieves increased organizational and personal effectiveness.

Prior to establishing his consulting practice, Jerry worked as a Vice President, Director, and Senior Career Counselor with Drake Beam Morin, (DBM), and The Spherion Corporation; both are career counseling and outplacement firms. He specialized in executive coaching, career counseling and job search strategies with senior executives and other displaced employees. He was also responsible for providing Entrepreneur, Career Decision, and Pre-Retirement workshops for clients considering career changes.

Jerry had an extensive hands-on management background with commercial banks in Michigan, New Jersey, and New York City. As a senior executive, he directed large bank operations departments. In addition to operations management, his other assignments included major system computer conversions, redesigning work systems, and improving employee work involvement, and customer satisfaction.

Jerry earned his MBA in Human Resource Management, at CUNY, in New York. His major concentration involved developing practical applications of motivation and work design to improve employee performance. Jerry has extensive training in a variety of assessment instruments and is certified as a senior career counselor, by Drake Beam, Morin and in Career Architect® assessments with Lominger Ltd. For several years, Jerry was an adjunct management instructor at Central Michigan University and The University of Michigan.
